COLLEGE: The Dallas Cowboys used their second selection of the fourth round (110th overall) in the 2009 NFL Draft on Victor Butler. A defensive end in college, Butler will become the Cowboys latest player that will make the transition from rush end to linebacker in Wade Phillips' 3-4 defensive scheme. He compiled 110 tackles, 26 sacks and 39.5 tackles for losses during his collegiate career at Oregon State. Butler left the school second all-time in sacks with 26 and fourth all-time in tackles for loss with 39.5.

2008:

  • He had 12.5 tackles for loss for the season for 124 yards lost, third in the nation behind South Florida's George Selvie (139) and Virginia's Chris Long (132).
  • Had tackles for lost yardage in all but two games.
  • Also had 25 tackles and a fumble recovery.
  • Posted a season-high five tackles at Cincinnati.
  • Returned his lone interception of the season 30 yards against California that set up a second quarter Beaver field goal.
  • Forced and recovered USC quarterback J.D. Booty's second quarter fumble that led to a Beaver field goal.
  • Shared the team's Most Improved Player (Tim Clark) and shared the �Lunch Bucket Award� (Taylor Kavanaugh).

2006:

  • Played in all 14 games and accounted for 17 tackles.
  • Of his 17 stops, 5.5 were for losses, including 3.5 sacks.
  • Made two tackles and a half tackle for loss against Idaho.
  • Registered his first sack of the season against Washington State.
  • Had four tackles, two tackles for losses and 1.5 sacks at Washington.
  • Added a sack against Southern California.
  • Posted two tackles and a tackle for loss against Arizona State.
  • Made three tackles and a sack at Hawaii.

2005:

  • One of seven true freshmen to play, finishing with three tackles for the season while seeing action in nine games.
  • Blocked a third quarter punt by Boise State's Kyle Stringer (recovered by Bryant Cornell) that gave OSU the ball at the Broncos 25-yard line to lead to a Beaver field goal.

PERSONAL:

  • Three-year letterwinner as a receiver, safety, defensive end and kick returner at Eisenhower High School in Rialto, California.
  • Played defensive end only as a senior due to team needs.
  • Two-time all-league and all-county as a senior.
